![]() The Birth of the Sun by Evelyn Kunda The sun was born of a brolga’s egg which exploded after Emu tossed it into the sky, and from this explosion the rainbow also came into being. The rainbow is invariably associated with water which, because it falls from the sky and fertilizes Mother Earth, is both the seed and wisdom of Father Sky. The rainbow was termed pulwaiya (father’s father), but it was both the divine phallus and the divine womb. As the essence of all life, it accompanied the aged Kunapipi when she went on her great walkabout. | Price per print
